ICAST 2012 Recap

Posted by cardinal on July 18, 2012

Last week team member Scott Davis had an opportunity to fly down to ICAST with the guys at Stick Jacket fishing rod covers.  While he was there he got the chance to take a look at all of the exciting new products that are going to be hitting the market this season.

Abu Garcia

This year Abu Garcia released their brand new line of Revos and words can hardly describe how amazing these new reels feel when you put one in your hand.  What makes the new line of Revos so great is their new low profile design which not only makes them nearly 30% lighter, but offers you a much better feel in your hand. Another great feature is the increased size of the gear box paired with the D2 duragear system, which improves your overall cranking ability when hauling in even the biggest fish. Be sure to look for these reels at your local Bass Pro Shops this coming fall, and for more information on all the great new features offered on the new line of Revos you can go to www.abugarcia.com

Berkley

Recently Berkley has had great success with their new line of Havoc soft plastics and this year Berkley released the Rocket Craw and new Pit Boss Chunk into their lineup.   The Pit Boss Chunk offers you a heavy hooking area and with four appendages this chunk gives you great action.  The Rocket Craw with its bent claws and long tentacles creates a unique action that fish can’t resist.  I was actually able to throw the Rocket Craw for the first time on Lake Pickwick back in May and the results were unbelievable.  The Rocket Craw has quickly become my new go to flipping bait.

Berkley also introduced their new Schooling Rig and Schooling Rig Kit.  With the castable umbrella rig craze that swept the world of fishing this past year I was excited to see Berkley release a version of their own.  Berkley’s rig consists of five arms and 60-pound swivel clasp, as well as a control rig that allows you collapse the Schooling Rig for easy storage.  The new Schooling Rig Kit offers you five Schooling jig heads and five Split Belly Swimbaits.  For more information on these great new products from Berkley you can go to www.berkley-fishing.com or you can stop in your local Bass Pro Shops.

 Stick Jacket

Stick Jacket came out with a few great new products this year as well.  The first being their new micro guide series of Stick Jacket fishing rod covers to protect all of micro guide rods.  They also released a few new rod cover colors to their lineup, including two new team colors.  Another great product Stick Jacket is now offering is an entire line of AccuCull accessories, which include a scale, cull board, and cull tags.  Lastly one of my favorite new products Stick Jacket is now offering is their line of Rod Lassos, which allow you to bundle all your rods into one handful of rods that can easily be taken anywhere.  For more information on all the great products offered by Stick Jacket you can go to their website www.stickjacket.com

Great info, thanks for shniarg! MIT Also offers their full college curriculum for free as well. Something to consider if a student wants attend college at home also. Although, the drawback is that he or she wouldn't receive a degree from it.
